Los Angeles, CaliforniaWhere we work

The magazine is produced in Los Angeles and covers founders across the United States.

How an interview is made

  1. We get in touch. We read a founder’s existing coverage or their work, and write to them directly. There is no application form and no panel.
  2. Questions, answered in your own time. Interviews run as a written Q&A. There is no call to prepare for, and questions can be skipped.
  3. We edit, you approve. Our editor edits for length and clarity only. The subject reads the piece before publication and can correct anything that misstates what they meant.
  4. It is published, and it stays. The interview goes live at a permanent address and is not taken down.

Editorial standards

We choose the story

Features are decided on the strength of the story, not on who asks. We look for a genuine turning point, a decision that cost something, a business that was built rather than bought. Not every founder we approach ends up in the magazine.

The subject’s own voice

We edit for length and clarity, never to change the meaning of what someone said. Answers are not rewritten into our house voice.

No anonymous features

Every interview names a real person and their business. We do not publish unattributed pieces.

We do not un-publish

Interviews stay online at the same address. A feature that quietly disappears is worth nothing to the person who sat for it.

Corrections in place

Errors are fixed on the original page rather than by republishing elsewhere, so a link already shared with customers keeps working.

Corrections

If something in your interview is wrong, out of date, or no longer reflects your business, write to the editor and we will correct it. This includes changes of company name, role or web address long after publication. There is no time limit and no charge for a correction.

Rights and permissions

Founders are free to share and quote their own interview anywhere — on their site, in a pitch deck, in a newsletter — and to use our publication logo when linking to it. We ask only that quotations link back to the original page so readers can see the full interview in context.

Being considered

Most interviews begin with us approaching a founder, but we are always glad to hear from people who think their story fits. Tell us what you are building and why now is an interesting moment for it, and include a link to your work.
