So nice to meet you! First off, what’s your name? Tell our readers a bit about yourself—where you’re from originally and where you live now.

My business began in Yardley, PA, in 1996 when my home was on a charity home tour. All these years later, I am still in Yardley, PA.

Tell us one thing you love about where you live now.

It’s a charming, tolerant and friendly small town.

Tell us a little more about what your company does and how it started. How does it help your customers?

I help customers by starting where they are, within their budget, their needs and their vision.

If someone wants to start a business, what advice would you give them?

Know your demographic, your time constraints, licensing requirements and all legal aspects of the business.

What is one piece of feedback from a happy customer or client that you won't forget?

“You made me feel so cozy and uplifted in my home,” she said.

Where do you see your company in the future?

Remaining primarily a small-town, geographically limited design business custom-tailored to my clients’ needs.

What is the biggest misconception about your industry?

That you can make a lot of money. That you can do it just from instinct or having a good eye. There is a lot of detail, concept development and learning the trade, so to speak, that goes into interior design: understanding scale, color theory, textiles, paint features, flooring and lighting components. Interfacing with various subcontractors is a key factor.

What has been one of your biggest struggles building your business, and how did you deal with it?

The variation in workflow: a slow summer, yet a big uptick in the fall months. Getting and keeping my name out there in my surrounding community.

What was your favorite music artist and athlete growing up?

James Taylor… and Bud Harrelson on the Mets.

Any shoutouts you want to make?

I love my clients!! Pindler, Stout and Thibaut fabrics send me!!!

Where can our readers learn more about you and your company?

On Thumbtack. On my website. On Instagram, and from Yardley Living magazine…
